What is Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and why should parents be concerned with it?

SEL isn’t what its promoters represent, but serves as a Trojan Horse for woke indoctrination. It’s a kind of replacement parenting, where the government, operating through the public school system, assumes the role of parent to teach values, ethics, decision making, and self‐management. SEL is the state’s version of character training, but not in the way most people think. Because another purpose of SEL is to serve as a carefully disguised delivery vehicle for Marxist inspired Critical Theory.  In SEL, everything is filtered through the woke, or Critical Theory, worldview.

SEL goes back to the 1960s and the Yale School of Medicine in Connecticut. There, James Comer, in an attempt to cope with school children’s behavioral and emotional problems, piloted what was called the “Comer School Development Program.” The object was to support not just academics, but to treat what is referred to as the “whole child”  This effort percolated among researchers over the years until 1994 when the “Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning,” or CASEL, was established in Chicago.
