The world we live in today is getting eerily more similar to the world I was born into in 1985. My parents welcomed me as their 8th child (of 12 children) in then Communist Romania where I wasn’t just considered their child, but a property of the State. This was one of the many reasons why my parents decided to escape this brutal regime and start a new life in the United States of America in 1991. What we didn’t know back then was that Communist operatives had been working for decades to infiltrate America and degenerate her from within. Unbeknownst to us, back in 1963, Communism’s 45 goals were read into the Congressional Record by Congressman Albert S. Herlong Jr (D-Florida). In order to get a better understanding of our current predicament, let’s examine a few of the Communist, and by extension, Socialist and Progressive goals:
17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for Socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
Fast forward to August 17, 2023 when I attended my local school board meeting in Orange Unified where I stood to give my speech as I have done on many other occasions. The reason why I decided to attend this meeting was due to an agenda item which considered a board policy that would require the district to notify parents within 72 hours of an incident that involved their child wanting to harm themselves or even change their name or gender. The recently elected board majority ran on the platform of restoring parental rights and brought this policy forward to ensure parents’ voices were being heard. As such, I decided to attend the meeting to show my support. I didn’t write my speech since we were only given 60 seconds for public comment. As the opponents and proponents stated their likes and dislikes of the policy, I stood and listened and prayed, asking the Lord to guide my thoughts in what I should say. I was speaker 59 of 60 for this item. It quickly dawned on me that the opponents of this board policy were failing to answer the most fundamental question that would shed light upon the matter: “WHOSE CHILDREN ARE THEY?”
The answer to this question would dictate the appropriate response. Not even ten minutes later, Board Members began deliberating on the policy and Mrs. Kris Erickson (a lawyer) attempted to answer my question, shedding much needed light on her ideological leanings, and this is a direct quote:
“While parents have expansive rights, and they should, they don’t own their children, and can’t dictate every single aspect of their children’s lives.”
The audience in the room gasped when they heard her answer. I knew at that very moment that my life had just gotten a huge step to being closer to 1985 where children belonged to the State and not their parents. Fast forward 48 hours later and a snippet of my speech with this question made it to FOX NEWS.

In this video, Pastor and POK Board Member, Gheorghe Rosca Jr., spoke on behalf of a parental rights being debated at the public meeting of the Orange Unified School Board in the city of Orange, California.
The Three Communist goals I cited earlier all played out during this school board meeting. Goal 17: The local Teacher’s Union representatives from Orange Unified Educators Association were out in droves. In fact, they represented the largest segment of the opposition. These teachers who teach our children during the day were speaking and behaving in a delusional and irrational manner that is hard to describe in words. Goal 40: The institution of the family was belittled, and parents were painted as evil overlords instead of the most sacrificial and caring human beings in children’s lives. Goal 41: They brought in kids to testify about how they felt unsafe to come out to their own parents about their sexuality or gender identity and thus, this board policy would force those conversations with their parents prematurely.
CALL TO ACTION: Pastors and Parents, I would like to encourage you to stand up and take action in your own community by bringing common sense policies to school boards that protect parental rights. I know that this could be taxing as I’ve been doing this for over 5 years while juggling a full-time job as a civil engineer, husband, father of 4 children and lay pastor in my local church. The time to stand is today, not tomorrow. Communist ideology is already in our own backyard. Hear my battle cry as someone who wasn’t born free, but property of the State. Don’t let that happen to America for the sake of your own children and grandchildren. They are yours as parents and not the States’!
